• De-fragmenting your hard drive at regular intervals is the best thing you can do to keep your system healthy. It’s also the best way to keep the most space available. UNFRAG. serves an almost identical function with one particular type of file called Compound files. If you use SolidWorks or Microsoft products as much as I do...you collect a lot of these files.

• The help file with this program gives a lot more details...although some of it is jargon! As is suggested, place in the ‘Named’ field *.*, put a check in the ‘include subfolders’ box. The whole drive or drives will then be scanned for these files.

• I was very impressed by the amount of space I recovered the first time I ran it. Now it’s on my list of regular housekeeping chores.  I ran it on a directory of 1 GIG of SolidWorks Files and when it was finished with the files it had save over 500 Megs of wasted space in the files.
