SolidWorks - Arc Length Dimension Print

CLICK HERE TO WIN A FLIP DIGITAL VIDEO

One of our smart dimension choices is arc length. I find that many people are unaware of this and may or may not need it. If you are unaware of what an arc length dimension is, it is a dimension on arc of course, but not for the radius or from center to point but from end to end and giving you the total length of that arc. To create an arc length dimension, start your smart dimension tool then select the arc, then both endpoints of the arc. During selection, SolidWorks will switch between three different dimension types.

First Seletion

The first selection of the arc will try to give you a radius dimension.

Selection Two

Your second selection, one of the ends, it will switch to a linear dimension.

Selection Three

The third selection of the second end will finalize it as an arc length dimension. All that's left is to place the dimension, type in the link value if needed, and hit enter or click OK.
