THIS TIP APPLYS TO BEFORE SOLIDWORKS 2008 At times when working on a part or assembly within SolidWorks it helps to rotate the view about a point, vertex, or edge of a part. To get more control over how you rotate your model in 3D space, you can use the rotate about a model point/vertex or edge command. This command is especially useful when you are zoomed into a small area and want to rotate the view.
Rotate about a point:
Simply SLOW double middle mouse button click then hold on the last click on the Vertex you would like to rotate about
Same as above SLOW double middle mouse button click then hold on the last click on the Edge you would like to rotate about
